RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council (1) waive competitive bidding requirements pursuant to Culver City Municipal Code (CCMC) Section 3.07.075.F.3; and (2) approve a five-year professional services agreement with Occu-Med for occupational health services in an amount not-to-exceed $150,000 per year.


BACKGROUND

The City has contracted with Occu-Med since 2019 to provide occupational health services, including scheduling and conducting pre-placement medical evaluations for new hires. These evaluations ensure that candidates can safely perform essential job functions, with or without accommodation.

Occu-Med is a nationally recognized provider with over 15,000 locations, serving government contractors, public agencies, and safety departments. Per CCMC Section 3.07.045, competitive bidding is typically required after five consecutive years with the same vendor. However, Section 3.07.075.F.3 allows the City Council to waive this requirement if it is in the City's best interest.
