RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council (1) award a construction contract to Elencor Belco Electrical Inc., as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, in the amount of $463,407 for the Unsignalized Intersection Safety Improvements Project, PS-028; and (2) authorize the Public Works Director to approve change orders to the contract in an amount not-to-exceed $69,511 to cover contingency costs (15%).


BACKGROUND

Culver City's Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) report was finalized in November 2021. The LRSP analyzed collision data over a five-year period citywide and identified the top high-risk intersections. Ten locations were identified to seek grant funding for safety improvements.

On March 26, 2021, the City received confirmation from The State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) that the Unsignalized Safety Improvement Project of the City's grant application was selected for funding.
