RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the Mobility, Traffic & Parking Subcommittee receive a presentation on the Unsignalized Intersections Safety Improvement Project; and 2) discuss and provide direction to staff.


BACKGROUND

Culver City's Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) report was finalized in November 2021. The LRSP analyzed collision data over a five-year period citywide and identified the top high-risk intersections. Ten locations were identified to seek grant funding for safety improvements.

On March 26, 2021, the City received confirmation from The State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) that the Unsignalized Safety Improvement Project of our grant application was selected for funding.

On March 23, 2022, the City received Program Supplement Agreements from Caltrans for the project which allocated the HSIP funding for the projects.


DISCUSSION

The Unsignalized Safety Improvement Project proposes safety improvements at the ten (10) intersections listed below. The safety improvements include intersection lighting, installation/upgrade of stop signs and other warning and regulatory signs, and upgrade of intersection pavement markings.
