Nachbar (04/06/11) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council approve a professional services agreement with IDC Consulting Engineers Inc.for preliminary engineering services for the Higuera Street Bridge Replacement/Rehabilitation Project P 553 for a not to exceed amount of $234 173. BACKGROUND: The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (County) is contracted by the State of California (Caltrans) to perform bridge inspections in Los AngelesCounty every 2 years. In December 1999 the HigueraStreet Bridge (Bridge) was determined by the County to be functionally obsolete due to its narrow width relative to the roadway width on both approaches to the Bridge. Taking this and other factors into consideration the Bridge was determined to have a Sufficiency Rating (SR) of 72.9.
