Fulwood (06/21/2006) City Controller Approval: Marlee Chang (06/21/2006) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council review the recommendation by the Parks and Recreation Commission and staff regarding the establishment of a Youth Advisory Commission (YAC) discuss the issue and provide direction to staff. BACKGROUND: On October 18 2004 City Council directed staff to place the establishment of a Youth Council or Commission for consideration at a future Council meeting. The intended purpose of the YAC would be to advise the City Council and Commission regarding issues that affect the youth of Culver City. Staff scheduled the YAC item for the January 10 2005 City Council meeting. Prior to the January 10 2005 Council meeting the Parks and Recreation Commission (Commission) took action to request that the City Council refer the YAC item back to the Commission for a recommendation before it was considered by City Council. Attachment 1 provides a copy of the minutes from the January 4 2005 Commission meeting. At the January 10 2005 City Council meeting Council moved to refer the YAC issue back to the Commission for review and recommendation. Attachment 2 provides a copy of the minutes of the January 10 2005 City Council meeting.
