RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee approve a rescheduled event date for the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration 2025.


BACKGROUND/ DISCUSSION

The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee) is tasked with advising Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) staff with the planning of the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration for 2025. With the postponement of the January 11, 2025, Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration the PRCS staff is recommending that the Advisory Committee choose one of the following event dates:

* Saturday February 1, 2025
* Saturday February 8, 2025
* Saturday February 15, 2025
* Saturday February 22, 2025


This date was chosen based on availability of the spaces and/or venues, and that the City's community calendar has no event that conflicts to this time. February is Black History Month, and the City of Inglewood's celebration is on February 24, 2025.
