RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council (1) discuss and consider whether or not to conduct an interview process for applicants to Culver City Commissions, Committees, and Boards (CCBs); and (2) provide direction to the City Manager as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND:
At the Special City Council Meeting of March 22, 2016, Council Members discussed the application process for the City's CCBs and whether or not to conduct interviews of potential candidates. There was consensus by the City Council to place this subject on an upcoming agenda for City Council consideration and to provide notice to applicants that interviews may be conducted.
DISCUSSION:
There are currently eleven CCBs for which 31 positions are available for appointment. Of those 31 upcoming positions, nine are vacant, one is being termed out and 21 are currently held by members who are completing a (partial of full) term and who are eligible to apply for reappointment for another term. For most of the bodies, terms end on June 30, 2016. However, several of the bodies have terms that end later in 2016.
