Nachbar (08/03/11) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and authorize advertising for bids for the Baldwin Avenue (Braddock Drive to Farragut Drive) Street Improvement Project P 428. BACKGROUND/ DISCUSSION: Baldwin Avenue between Braddock Drive and Farragut Drive requires reconstruction due to the current condition of the concrete and asphalt infrastructure. This capital improvement project proposes to reconstruct the curb gutter drive approach and asphalt surfaces. Also the project includes rain gardens for storm water and irrigation run off. The rain gardens are designed to intercept the initial run off and allow it to percolate through the soil. The purpose of the rain gardens is to intercept some of the pollutants before they enter Ballona Creek.
