BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Subcommittee will receive and discuss a presentation from a representative of The River Project.

The River Project is dedicated to planning and action to protect, reclaim, and restore vital ecosystems in Los Angeles County. Their mission is to realize a regenerative, equitable, just, and climate-resilient Los Angeles through radical curiosity, evidence-based watershed planning, and positive action. Through their work, they provide local government and communities with the tools to safely adapt to rapidly changing conditions and co-create a climate-resilient future.

What they do: advocate, undertake scientific studies, engage with communities and schools, facilitate locally-driven public art, and partner with agencies and NGOs.

The River Project actively engages in the development of water and land-use policy at both the local and state levels, where they advocate for inclusive, comprehensive, stakeholder-driven approaches to watershed management and climate resilience in Los Angeles and California.
