PROCLAMATION
THE 32ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE RETIRED AND SENIOR
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Culver City has been a Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) sponsor since 1973; and
WHEREAS, the Senior Center, through the Culver City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, has offered
this program as a service to the senior population and as a link between the community and senior volunteers for the past thirty two
years; and
WHEREAS, RSVP has developed a variety of community service opportunities for those aged 55 and above who have the
desire to share their experience, abilities and skills for the betterment of their community and themselves; and
WHEREAS, RSVP has partnered with local agencies and organizations involved in the fields of aging, social services, and
volunteerism throughout the years; and
WHEREAS, RSVP has sustained an ethic of civic responsibility, reinforced the spirit of giving and renewed our sense of
community year after year; and
WHEREAS, RSVP volunteers have donated approximately 100,000 service hours each year for thirty two years to aid local
public agencies, private non-profit organizations, and proprietary health care agencies and organizations; and
WHEREAS, RSVP volunteers have met and continue to meet critical human, educational, environmental and public safety
needs of the Culver City community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Culver City, California, hereby proclaims
Wednesday, September 28, 2005 as the 32nd Anniversary of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
