RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and authorize the publication of a notice inviting bids for the Colonial Avenue Alley Paving Project, PZ-295, Community Development Block Grant Project # 601891-17.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

This fiscal year's Capital Improvement Project budget includes the Colonial Avenue Alley Paving Project. This project was approved by the City Council for funding with Community Development Block Grant Funds (CDBG) as recommended by the Community Development Committee.

This proposed project will pave the dirt alley bounded by Colonial Avenue and Centinela Avenue between Washington Boulevard and Washington Place. The extent of the alley to be paved starts on Colonial Ave then runs parallel on the east side of Colonial Ave for approximately 500 linear feet to the future site of the proposed Market Hall project. The exact extent of the paving work is depicted in the attachment.

Under the direction and approval of staff, CivilSource, (selected from the City's on-call consultant list), designed the new alley and prepared the final plans and construction bid documents. The existing dirt alley...
