RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the submittal of application(s) for all CalRecycle Grants for which the City of Culver City is eligible.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) offers competitive Grant Programs, pursuant to Section 47200(a) of the Public Resources Code, to assist local governments in implementing programs, which may include public education, source reduction, reuse, recycling, and collection events. These funding opportunities are authorized by legislation to assist public and private entities in the safe and effective management of the waste stream.
Applicants can apply online for many of CalRecycle's grant programs by using the Grants Management System (GMS). Applicants may search the GMS for available grants or go to the specific grant's webpage for information about the next offering.
In many instances, a grant application requires a resolution from the City to apply for the grant.
The City has had a current resolution in effect since 2013. This resolution recently expired in February 2018. Issuing a new resolution to include in future grant applications is required at this time in order to facilitate appl...
