RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that City Council approve a construction agreement with ToddCo Landscape Co. Inc., as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, in an amount not to exceed $85,277.50 for demolition work at Culver City Park Fields 1-3.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department is undertaking a renovation project at Culver City Park Fields 1-3 to restore and improve the playing fields and support the continued use of the facilities for organized sports, recreation, and community programming. As part of the overall renovation effort, demolition work is required to remove existing site materials in preparation for subsequent field improvements.

In early July, staff solicited bids from five (5) contractors for the demolition work associated with Culver City Park Fields 1-3. For purposes of the bid process, the project cost was estimated to be within the City Manager’s purchasing authority and informally bid, pursuant to Culver City Municipal Code Section 3.07.070. Two (2) contractors submitted responsive bids for the requested scope of work, while the remaining three contractors did not submit bids:

ToddCo Landscape Co. Inc. – $77,000
Suncore Engineering and Construction – $341,600
