RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Commission receive and file the report regarding the Parks, Recreation and Community Services summer programming.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Lindberg Park was established in 1927 and was expanded in 1938. It currently is 4.39 acres in size. The playground was last renovated in the 1990s. It currently has play equipment for ages 2-12 years old, sand surfacing with concrete walkways, and limited shaded seating with tables and benches. Due to the age of the playground, replacements parts are either no longer available or difficult to get. The equipment is not accessible, and the sand no longer meets current safety standards. Due to these issues, PRCS is working to replace the playground at Lindberg Park.
The new playground will include equipment for ages 2-5 years old and ages 5-12 years old. The department wishes to make the playground a fully inclusive playground with an accessible design, safety surfacing, and shaded seating. PRCS wishes to work with the community members to embrace a community theme for the playground.
