BACKGROUND/DESCRIPTION
Representatives from Westwood Greenway Inc. spoke at the September 29, 2025 Culver City Council Meeting during the public comment period regarding model legislation for a Right to Native Vegetation. Council remanded the topic to the Sustainability Subcommittee for discussion.
The Subcommittee will receive and discuss a report from Westwood Greenway Inc. about model legislation that mandates public entities contract with accredited native plant landscapers for public projects and maintenance; requires native plants in all new landscaping projects on public land; incentivizes contractors who advance workforce equity and training; and leverages public funds to support workforce development and green infrastructure.
