The stimulus package which has grown to nearly $940 billion drew opposition from moderates this week. Unlike the House the Senate will not have enough votes to pass the package without some Republican support. Democratic moderates indicated late Thursday that they were close to a deal that would decrease the price tag of the package and gamer support from enough Republicans to pass the legislation.
