RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to submit applications in the amount of $8,000,000 to the California State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) - Proposition 1 Storm Water Grant Program Funds.
BACKGROUND
The Water Quality, Supply, and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014 (Proposition 1) was approved by California voters in November 2014. The bill authorizes $7.545 billion in general obligation bonds for water projects including surface and groundwater storage, ecosystem and watershed protection and restoration, and drinking water protection. Of the $7.545 billion, Proposition 1, Section 79747 of the California Water Code, provides $200 million in grant funds for multi-benefit storm water management projects.
Section 79747 identifies funds available for multi-benefit storm water management projects which may include, but shall not be limited to: green infrastructure, rainwater and storm water capture projects and storm water treatment facilities.
