BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

During the fiscal year of 2021/2022, the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (Committee) voted to hold various public community events as part of their work plan. One of these public events includes the Asian American Storytelling event that is being held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 7:00 pm. During the October 26, 2022 regular meeting, the Committee achieved consensus to agendize an action item to discuss the Childhood and Equity Movie Screening event program and details.

The Asian American Storytelling Ad Hoc Subcommittee would like to recognize Asian American Awareness month in April and recognize the appreciation of Asian Americans through storytelling. The Asian American Storytelling Ad Hoc Subcommittee plans to coordinate a diverse panel of storytellers who will share stories exploring both the challenges and blessings of being Asian American.

The Asian American Storytelling Ad Hoc Subcommittee is comprised of Committee members Samia Bano, Haifaa Moammar and Anissa Di Vincente.
