RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve a Purchase Order for the acquisition of one mobile vehicle lift system from Southwest Lift & Equipment, Inc. in an amount not-to-exceed $59,825.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

To supplement the Transportation Facility’s eight fixed in-ground vehicle lifts, staff proposes to purchase a mobile vehicle lift system. This system can be used with four or six posts depending on the configuration of the equipment or vehicle that will be repaired. These six (6) mobile column hoists can be moved throughout the Transportation Facility for use, including the Facility’s Welding Shop.

Section 3.07.045.G of the Culver City Municipal Code exempts purchases from the formal competitive bidding requirements when competitive bid procedures have already been utilized by another public agency.  Because of the City’s participation with the National Joint Powers Alliance, this procurement meets this requirement.

FISCAL ANALYSIS

On June 13, 2016, the City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2016/2017 Budget which included the purchase of a set of six portable vehicle lifts. Sufficient funding is available in the City Council Adopted Budget for Fiscal Year 2016/2017 - Transportation Department (20370300.732100) to support the proposed expenditure.
