RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution amending Exhibit A to Resolution No. 2022-R078 making express findings that modifications to state codes are reasonably necessary because of local climatic, geological or topographical conditions.

BACKGROUND

On October 10, 2022 the City of Culver City adopted the 2022 California Building Standards Codes, 2022 California Residential Code, 2022 California Plumbing Code, 2022 California Existing Building Code, 2022 California Green Building Standards Code, 2022 Existing Building Code, and 2022 California Mechanical Code (the “Codes”), including certain local amendments.

On September 19, 2022 the City of Culver City adopted Resolution No. 2022-R078.  Exhibit A to the resolution made express findings pursuant to California Health and Safety Code Section 17958.5 justifying the local amendments to the Codes.  City staff filed those findings and the local amendments with the California Building Standards Commission.

On March 1, 2024, the City’s Building Safety Division was notified by the California Building Standards Commission (CBSC) that edits are necessary to Exhibit A for Section R105.2 of the 2022 California Residential Code (CRC) and section 1208.13.1 of the 2022 California Plumbing Code (CPC) to be suitable for filing.

DISCUSSION

City staff has prepared the Proposed Resolution amending Exhibit A to Resolution No. 2022-R078 to add Local Geological Conditions as the finding for section R105.2 of the 2022 CRC and section 1208.13.1 of the 2022 CPC (Attachment 1).  A redline of the changes to Exhibit A is included with this report as Attachment 2.

FISCAL ANALYSIS

There is no fiscal impact associated with the adoption of this resolution.
