Department Approval:Dan Hernandez (11/12/13) City Attorney Approval: N/A Chief Financial Officer Approval: N/A City Manager Approval: N/A RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Commission(1) elect a Vice Chair; and, (2) adopt motions appointing Commissioners to fill vacancies created by the resignation of the former Vice Chair. BACKGROUND: On October 10, 2013 Ms. Catherine Yanda, former Vice Chair of the PRCS Commission, submitted her resignation from the Commission to the City Council effective October 14, 2013. Due to her resignation, in addition to the Vice Chairman vacancy, the Sponsorship/Financial Support Subcommittee is short one member and there are Alternate Delegate positions open on La Ballona Creek Renaissance and the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Advisory Committee. A full list of the Commission appointments showing where the vacancies lie is provided as an Attachment. Staff is bringing this item forward to give the Commissioners an opportunity to fill the vacancies created by the resignation of the former Vice Chair, should they desire to do so. APPOINTMENTS: 1. NOMINATIONS FOR CHAIR Chair Greene announces that this is the time and place to receive nominations for Chair, calls for nominations, closes the nominations, and calls for the vote. Appointment of Commissioners to Fill the Remaining Vacancies Created by the Resignation of the Former Vice Chair.
