RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council fill a vacancy for Seat No. 6 - Local Business Representative, on the Finance Advisory Committee (FAC) for a full term ending June 30, 2022.

BACKGROUND/ DISCUSSION:

During the regular 2018 application cycle, there were no qualified applications received for the Local Business Representative vacancy. At the City Council Meeting of June 25, 2018, the City Council directed staff to conduct targeted outreach to business owners in Culver City to fill the vacancy.

The FAC consists of nine (9) members appointed by the City Council, with three (3) of those members coming from the Culver City Business Community. The Business Community Members shall own or be the primary operator of a duly licensed business located within the City Limits.

On October 11 and 30, 2018, the City Clerk’s Office reached out to one thousand (1,000) Business Tax Certificate (BTC) Holders who were invited to apply for the vacancy. Additionally, FAC members reached out to the business community and staff contacted the Chamber of Commerce to further distribute information regarding the vacancy.

The appointment will be for a full term, ending on June 30, 2022.

Attachment 1 includes the redacted applications for the following two qualified applicants:

Christopher Harris

Randall Lentz
