RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council adopt a Resolution authorizing the City Manager or designee to submit claims to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) for Transportation Development Act (TDA), State of California State of Good Repair (SGR) and State Transit Assistance (STA) funds for Fiscal Year 2025/2026 (Attachment 1).

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

As part of the annual process to accept statewide transit funding, the Transportation Department is required to obtain City Council resolutions for Senate Bill (SB) 1 - State of Good Repair (SGR), Transportation Development Act (TDA), and State Transit Assistance (STA) funds.  These are funding sources from the state made available for transit capital and/or operations.

The Transportation Department relies on these funds to partially subsidize operating costs and capital projects.  Adoption of the required resolutions by the City Council is necessary to meet Caltrans and LA Metro requirements and to enable the Department to claim and use these funds.

FISCAL ANALYSIS

Funding for Fiscal Year 2025/2026 allocations is included in the Adopted Budget for Fiscal Year 2025/2026 as part of the Transportation Department’s budget and requires no additional appropriations or authorities. The table below outlines Culver City’s estimated allocations by program as provided by LA Metro’s Annual Funding Marks.
