RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Civil Service Commission approve a new promotional and revised recruitment bulletin for Traffic Painter.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Traffic Painter classification is responsible for performing skilled work in traffic line and legend painting, installing traffic regulatory warning and directional signs, and installing and maintaining other public signs and posts.
Recruitment Bulletin
The recruitment bulletin includes the necessary recruitment information, minimum requirements, as well as the examination components, in addition to the 4% salary increase which is effective July 1, 2025, per the CCEA Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). In addition, we are submitting the proposed recruitment bulletin for approval in consideration of opening a promotional recruitment.
The proposed change to the recruitment bulletin reflects adding the type of semi-skilled work to include “maintenance” work experience as shown on Attachment 1, the proposed revised recruitment bulletin for Traffic Painter.
Bargaining Unit Representation
This classification is represented by the Culver City Employees Association (CCEA). CCEA has been notified of this revision and has been provided a copy of the revised classification specification for their information.
AUTHORITY
The Commission’s authority to approve new or revised recruitment bulletin is outlined in Civil Service Rule 6.4:
6.4 Commission Approval: Where an examination is required, the Human Resources Director shall prepare a Job Bulletin and forward it to the Commission for approval. It shall not be necessary to obtain additional Commission approval of a Job Bulletin if there have been no changes in the minimum requirements, or examination components.
FISCAL ANALYSIS
There is no fiscal impact associated with this agenda item.
