RECOMMENDATION

 

Staff recommends that the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration & Juneteenth Celebration Committee (Committee) receive and file the marketing and communication outreach plan for the Juneteenth Celebration 2026.

 

 

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

 

The Committee is being presented with updated communication outreach plan for the Juneteenth Celebration on June 20, 2026. Dustin Klemann, Chief Communication and Public Information Officer for Culver City, will provide an overview of the key elements of the outreach strategy, including marketing timelines, communication methods and community engagement efforts that the City employs.

The community outreach plans have been developed to ensure that promotional efforts align with key planning milestones and community partnership strategies. The plan includes but is not limited to:

§                     Communication Outreach

§                     Juneteenth Celebration Reminders

§                     Social Media Postings

o                     Facebook

o                     Eventbrite

o                     Nextdoor

§                     Outreach to media

The City utilized marketing strategies such as social media, email campaigns and posters to advertise events. The reviewal of this communication outreach plan is essential to ensure the event is well-publicized and attracts broad community.
