RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Economic Development Subcommittee receive and file an update on the 2026 Kick It With Culver City and Summer Sunset Music Series activations.
BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION
Kick It With Culver City
On March 16, 2026, the Culver City Council unanimously approved the creation of a series of community events/activations to celebrate the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Kick It With Culver City,” was created to provide residents and visitors a free, family-friendly watch party series for the 2026 World Cup in local parks and public spaces.
Six events were held between June 12, 2026 and July 19, 2026 across three activation zones: City Parks (Veterans Memorial Park and Tellefson Park), Ivy Station, and Downtown Culver City.
The events consisted a live community screening of the game as well as other uniqued entertainment/interactive activations including folklorico and mariachi performances, local food vendors, kids’ craft stations, lawn games, and booths from community and sports partners, along with a bike valet and guidance on transit and micromobility options given limited on-site parking.
The total visitation for the event series was 14,000 individuals. Specific visitations and dwell times are noted below:

Update of the Summer Sunset Music Series for 2026
Since the late 90’s, The City has provided a summer music festival/series for the residents and visitors to enjoy live music and encourage visitation in Downtown Culver City as part of economic development work plan. In 2024, the City relaunched the series as the Summer Sunset Music Series at the completed Town Plaza at The Culver Steps property.
The Culver Steps location have proven to be very successful in bnringing the community together, while also supporting local businesses. The 2026 series occurs on Thursday evenings with a curated mix of local and regional performers that highlight different cultures, genders and genres focused on inclusivity.
