Kimball) (09/29/10) Executive Director Approval: John Nachbar (09/29/10) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Redevelopment Agency Board (Agency Board): (1) accept the work performed by Interior Demolition, Inc., for the demolition of the Globe Avenue Properties; (2) authorize filing the Notice of Completion; and (3) authorize the release of the retention funds in the amount of $4,577.00 after the expiration of the thirty-five day lien period BACKGROUND: On May 3, 2009, the Agency Board approved a demolition contract with Interior Demolition, Inc. in the amount of $44,270.00 Also the Agency Board authorized the Executive Director to approve change orders, up to an additional $6,600.00 for unforeseen conditions. The scope of work included abatement of hazardous materials (i.e. asbestos containing building materials and lead) and demolition of six homes on Globe Avenue, plus the removal of utility lines and rough grading of the site. During the course of the work, two change orders for a total additional cost of $1,500.00 were approved bringing the final contract total to $45,770.00. The work began on August 16, 2010 and was completed on time by September 29, 2010. City of Culver City, California Agenda Item Report DISCUSSION: Interior Demolition, Inc., successfully completed the work, as required in the executed contract dated June 10, 2010. The construction management was performed by Housing and Redevelopment staff with the hazardous materials abatement oversight performed by Coffey Environmental, Inc. FISCAL ANALYSIS: The Agency Board’s authorized maximum expenditure limit for this contract is $50,870.00 (base contract plus Change Orders) and the final total came in at $45,770.00. A purchase order for the latter amount has been opened using funds from the Agency’s Low- and Moderate-Income Housing Fund (55497410.613100) MOTION: That the Agency Board: 1. Accept the work performed by Interior Demolition, Inc. for the demolition of the Globe Avenue Properties; and, 2. Authorize the Executive Director to execute the Notice of Completion and submit it to the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office; and, 3. Authorize the release of $4,577.00 in retention funds to Interior Demolition, Inc. after the expiration of the 35-day lien period.
