RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Culver City Chamber of Commerce from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2028 relative to cooperation in certain joint events, projects and economic development-related activities.
BACKGROUND/ DISCUSSION
The City and the Culver City Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) have a long-standing relationship to elevate and align economic development programs within the community. Since 2009, the City has entered into multiple MOUs to define the organizational relationship with the Chamber. These MOUs outline specific duties and responsibilities regarding business community events and activities relative to the City’s economic development efforts. The current MOU will expire on June 30, 2026; therefore, a new MOU is required to continue this collaboration.
Staff and the Chamber Board reviewed the previous MOU to ensure that the proposed agreement reflects the approved Economic Development work plan and the current Chamber programming.
The event and programs outlined in the proposed MOU include:
- Business Ribbon Cuttings ^
- Business Visitations ^
- Explore Culver City Tourism Program *
- Business Educational Workshops *
- Creative Economy Event (s) *
- Industry Cluster Meetings/ Events *
- Business Expo **
- Culver City Economic Forum **
- Women In Business Luncheon **
- State of the City *
*City-Initiated
**Chamber-Initiated
^City or Chamber-Initiated
FISCAL ANALYSIS
There is no financial obligation required for the City. The MOU helps offset City costs on program and ribbon cutting collaboration as well as increasing marketing exposure directly to Chamber members.
