RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Commission (1) consider forming a PRCS Commission “2028 Summer Olympics Preparation Ad Hoc Subcommittee;” and (2) if desired, appoint two PRCS Commission Members to the newly formed Ad Hoc Subcommittee.
BACKGROUND/ DISCUSSION
At the June 6, 2023, PRCS Commission meeting, it was mentioned that the Cultural Affairs Commission along with City Council had created ad hoc subcommittees dedicated to preparing Culver City for the 2028 Summer Olympics, which are set to take place from Friday, July 14, 2028, to Sunday, July 30, 2028, in Los Angeles.
Commissioners agreed to agendize a discussion concerning the creation of a PRCS Commission 2028 Summer Olympics Preparation Ad Hoc Subcommittee. The purpose of the ad hoc subcommittee would be to work alongside the subcommittees created by City Council and the Cultural Affairs Commission representing Culver City’s parks and facilities during any City planning for the 2028 Summer Olympics.
