RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council adopt a Resolution that:
1. Orders the Preparation of the Engineer’s Report for the Landscape
Maintenance Assessment District No. 1 (LDM#1) for Fiscal Year
2006/2007;
2. Declares its intention to Order the Levy of Assessments for Fiscal Year
2006/2007; and
3. Sets a Public Hearing for June 26, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. in the Mike
Balkman Council Chamber to order the levy of this assessment
BACKGROUND:
LMD#1, consisting of two zones, was created for the purpose of providing on-going
maintenance of landscaping. Location maps will be included in the ordered
Engineer's Report. The assessment for the District includes costs for providing
complete maintenance, administration, and preparation of the Engineer's Report.
DISCUSSION:
The estimated costs to be incurred during Fiscal Year 2006/07 are $19,704.00 for
Zone 1 and $6,186.00 for Zone 2. Staff is recommending that the assessment for
Zone 1 remain the same as last year ($19,746) and that the $42 surplus be carried

over to next Fiscal Year. For Zone 2 staff recommends that the surplus for Fiscal
Years 2002-2003 and 2004-2005 in the amounts of $1,380 and $1,500 respectively,
be applied as a credit and that the total assessment for Zone 2 be $3,306.00.
These items will be detailed in the ordered Engineer’s Report.
FISCAL ANALYSIS:
The Landscaping Maintenance District No. 1 budget should be 100 percent self-
supporting for all expenditures. Property owners within the District are charged for
their fair share of these costs, as will be described in the Engineer’s Report.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCILOF THE CITY,OF CULVER CITY,
CALIFORNIA ORDERING THE PREPARATION OF ENGINEER'S
REPORT PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 15 01 OF
THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA AND
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ORDER THE ANNUAL ASSESSMENT
LEVY FOR LANDSCAPING MAINTENANCE ASSESSMENT DISTRICT
NO 1 AND SETTING THE TIME AND PLACE FOR THE PUBLIC
HEARING
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Culver City desires tk,conduct
proceedings for considering the annual assessment of an assessment dtstnct pursuant to
the terms and provisions of the "Levy of Annual Assessment" being Sec ition 15 01 070, of
the Municipal Code of the City of Culver City, California Chapter 15 01, in What is known
and designated as
LANDSCAPING MAINTENANCE ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO 1(hereinafter
referred to as the "Assessment District"), and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Culver City desires to complete the
proceedings for the annual levy of the assessments as required by Proposition 218, and
WHEREAS, these proceedings for the annual levy of assessments Shall relate to
the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2006 and ending June 30, 2007, and
WHEREAS, the provisions of Section 15 01 055, require wntten engineer's report
consisting of the following|109| A diagram of the area proposed to be assessed, and|109| An assessment of the estimated costs for said fiscal yearNOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Culver City, DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE as follows
I The above recitals are all true and correct
2 The City Council of the City of Culver City declares its intention to levy the
annual assessment for fiscal year 2006/2007
3 The Engineer of Record, is hereby ordered to prepare and file with the
City Council an Engineer's Report relating to said annual assessment and levy in
accordance with the provisions of Section 15 01 055 of the Code of the City of
Culver City, California
4 Upon completion, said Engineer's Report shall be filed with the City Clerk
who shall then submit the same to this City Council for its consideration pursuant
to Section 15 01 070 of the Code of the City of Culver City
5 The Time and Place for the Public Heanng shall be June 26, 2006 in the
Council Chamber of the City of Culver City
