RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council, Successor Agency to the Culver City Redevelopment Agency (Successor Agency) Board, Housing Authority Board, and Parking Authority Board (1) receive the City Manager’s/Executive Director’s Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 (Proposed Budget) for the City, the Successor Agency, the Housing Authority and the Parking Authority; (2) receive a presentation on the Proposed FY 2026-2027 Budget Overview along with the Key Performance Indicator Framework; and (3) set the date and time for public hearing on the Proposed Budget for June 8, 2026 at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard.
BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION
In accordance with Section 801 of the Culver City Charter, which requires that a proposed budget be submitted to the City Council at least 45 days prior to the beginning of each fiscal year, the City Council and Boards for the Successor Agency, Housing Authority and Parking Authority have been provided with the Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2026-2027. In addition, Section 801 requires the City Council to set the date and time for a public hearing on the proposed budget. Staff recommends the public hearing be set for June 8, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard.
The planned budget schedule includes:
• Monday, May 11 - City Council Meeting to include delivery of the Proposed Budget and budget overview presentation
• Wednesday, May 13 - “Let's Talk Budget, Culver City” Community Conversation, 6:30 PM at Culver West Alexander Park
• Saturday, May 16 - “Let's Talk Budget, Culver City” Community Conversation, 1:30 PM at the Culver City Senior Center
• Tuesday, May 26 - City Council Meeting Discussion Session on Proposed Budget
• Public Hearing to Present/Adopt User Fee Update
• Public Hearing to Present/Adopt Refuse Rate Update
• Monday, June 8 - City Council Meeting - Public Hearing Budget Adoption
The Proposed Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget and associated presentation will be available online at <https://www.culvercity.org/City-Hall/City-Departments/General-Info-Finance/Annual-Budget> at or before 7:00 p.m. on May 11, 2026. The City Manager’s Budget Message provides an overview of the budget and the financial outlook for the City.
