RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC) 1) receive a verbal report from the Community Contributions Ad Hoc Subcommittee about the Equity and Human Relations Awards; 2) determine next steps; and 3) provide direction to staff as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
At the January 24, 2023, regular meeting, the committee achieved consensus to agendize this item to receive a verbal report from the Community Contributions Ad Hoc Subcommittee about the Equity and Human Relations Awards.
Staff met with the Subcommittee on November 1, 2022, and December 6, 2022, to discuss the nominations process, extension of nominations to and closure of nominations on January 31, 2023, planning for the awards presentation at a City Council meeting in Spring 2023, costs of the awards medallions, printing flyers, and various ways that the subcommittee will notify the public about the awards, including staff sending notifications through GovDelivery.
At the upcoming March 28, 2023, special meeting, the committee with discuss the nominees and vote on the recipients. Similar to the awards presentation in 2022, recipients will be awarded medallions at a future City Council meeting.
The Ad Hoc Subcommittee is comprised of committee members Haifaa Moammar, Raven Bradley, Jared Morgan, and Carlos Valverde.
FISCAL ANALYSIS
There are no costs associated with discussion of this item. Approximate costs for manufacturing the medallions are $500.
