RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution initiating proceedings for the
levy and collection of annual assessments for the Landscape Maintenance
Assessment District Number 1 (LMD #1) and ordering the preparation of the
Engineer’s Report thereon for Fiscal Year 2012/2013.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
LMD#1 consists of landscaping around the perimeter of the Studio Estates
Subdivision located north east of the intersection of Culver Boulevard and Elenda
Street. LMD#1 was created for the purpose of providing on-going maintenance of
landscaping within the District which consists of the landscaped border of the
subdivision on Culver Boulevard and Elenda Street. The assessment includes costs
for providing complete maintenance, administration, and preparation of the
Engineer’s Report.
Pursuant to Section 15.01.070( C ) of the Culver City Municipal Code (CCMC), the
proposed resolution presented to the City Council this evening describes any
proposed new, or changes in existing, improvements or services, or both and
orders the Public Works Director/City Engineer to prepare and file the Engineer’s
Report. The amount of the assessment is expected to remain the same as in the
previous year as there is no proposed new or change to existing improvements or
services.
Pursuant to Sections 15.01.070(D) and (E) of the CCMC, should the City Council
adopt the proposed resolution, the Public Works Director/City Engineer shall

prepare (or cause to be prepared) the Engineer’s Report. Upon its completion, the
Engineer’s Report shall be filed with the City Clerk, and the City Council shall be
presented with a Resolution of Intention declaring the City Council’s intent to levy
the assessments for Fiscal Year 2012/2013 and set the date, hour, and place for
the public hearing after which the City Council will consider levying the
assessments for said Fiscal Year.
FISCAL ANALYSIS:
The Engineer’s Report will be prepared by the Engineering Division of the Public
Works Department. Costs related thereto (estimated at $1,500) will be charged to
the Assessment District.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA, INITIATING PROCEEDINGS
FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF ANNUAL
ASSESSMENTS FOR THE LANDSCAPING MAINTENANCE
ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. 1 AND ORDERING THE
PREPARATION OF AN ASSESSMENT ENGINEER'S
REPORT.
WHEREAS, the City Council previously completed its proceedings pursuant
to the provisions of Chapter 15.01 of the Culver City Municipal Code ("GCMG") for the
formation of a benefit assessment district known and designated as the "Landscaping
Maintenance Assessment District No. la (the "District"); and
WHEREAS, these proceedings for the annual levy and collection of
assessments shall relate to the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2012 and ending June 30,
2013; and
WHEREAS, the preparation of an Assessment Engineer's Report (the
"Engineer's Report") is required in accordance with provisions of CCMC §§15.01.055 and
15.01.070.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Culver City, DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE as follows:
1. The City Council hereby orders the preparation of the Engineer's
Report in accordance with the requirements of CCMC §§15,01.055 and 15.01.070, to be
filed with the City Clerk for submission to the City Council. The Engineer's Report shall be
prepared and approved by the City Engineer prior to thing with the City Clerk.
