RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council adopt the Resolution authorizing the filing of a grant application
to the Corporation for National Service for the RSVP program for the three year
cycle, April 1, 2006 – March 31, 2009.
BACKGROUND:
The Culver City Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will begin its 33
rd
year of
successful operation in April 2006. In the past year, 509 volunteers provided
volunteer work for a wide variety of community agencies and organizations, and
provided 100,000 hours of volunteer assistance. The RSVP volunteers have been
very valuable in assisting our City government, our school district, municipal courts,
hospitals, etc., by contributing hundreds of thousands of hours to these public
services over the years.
FISCAL ANALYSIS:
This year’s proposed budget to the Corporation for National Service is $172,018.
The non-Federal share amounts to $126,751 with the actual cash contribution from
the General Fund amounting to $123,751 and $3,000 donated by the community.
The Federal share funded by the Corporation for National Service is $45,267. The
RSVP grant fiscal year begins on April 1
st
and ends on March 31
st
. The RSVP grant
procedure involves updating the budget and renewing the contract annually through
the period April 1, 2006-March 31, 2009.

MOTION:
That the City Council, subject to the approval of the City Attorney, adopt the
resolution authorizing the filing of an Application for the Corporation for National
Service for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, for the next three years, April 1,
2006-March 31, 2009 subject to the satisfactory performance, and designate the
Chief Administrative Officer as the authorizing representative of the City of Culver
City to act in connection with the application.

WHEREAS, the Corporation for National Service is awarded the funds to
administer Retired Senior Volunteer Program projects
I WHEREAS the City of Culver City wishes to apply for Retired Senior
Volunteer Program funds in order to administer said services
WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City of Culver City approve the
submittal of a proposal for the Corporation for National Service funds, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City of Culver City designate and
authorize a representative to sign the contract for Corporation for National Service funds
on behalf of the City Council
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Culver City, California,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, as follows|109| The City Council of the City of Culver City approves the submittal of
