City of Culver City, California City Council Agenda Item Report RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council award a construction contract to C.S.Legacy Construction Inc., as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder to complete the necessary work for the Dog Park Project- Phase II, P-816. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSIONS: On May 14, 2007 City Council approved final plans and specifications and authorization to advertise for construction bids for the City Dog Park Project- Phase II. The proposed work includes new landscaping and irrigation, walkway, weather and shade structures, fencing, signage, drinking fountains and additional lighting. BID RESULTS On October 4, 2007, the Deputy City Clerk publicly opened bids. Six Contractors responded with the following bid amounts: CONTRACTOR BID AMOUNTS 1. C.S. Fulwood (10/17/07) City of Culver City, California City Council Agenda Item Report Staff reviewed the lowest bidder’s bid proposal (C.S.Legacy Construction Inc.) and found the bid documents complete. The bonding information was reviewed and determined to meet City requirements. C.S.Legacy has worked on many park landscaping projects. Staff contacted a few project managers of recently completed park landscaping projects by C.S. Legacy and received favorable responses. Engineering Division staff will perform construction management and inspection. Construction is expected to commence in December 2007 and be completed within 90 calendar days. FISCAL ANALYSIS Sufficient grant funds are available in Proposition ‘A’ Excess Funds (42300816.730100) to award this construction contract.
