RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration & Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee receive and file an update from the members of the Juneteenth’s Ad Hoc Subcommittees of History and Culture for Juneteenth and Entertainment and Talent for Juneteenth.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Juneteenth Ad Hoc Subcommittees was established September 18, 2024, and October 16, 2024. This is an opportunity for them to check in with their progress and share updates. The following are the Ad Hoc Subcommittees have met:
• History and Culture for Juneteenth - March 6, 2025
• Entertainment and Talent for Juneteenth - March 10, 2025
A subcommittee's primary role is to support the special event staff by identifying opportunities and strategies for enhancing the Juneteenth Celebration event. This report serves as an update from the subcommittee members on their progress and recommendations.
MCJC Advisory Committee Ad Hoc Subcommittees
An “ad hoc” subcommittee serves only a limited or single purpose. It is not perpetual, and it is dissolved when its specific task is completed. An Ad Hoc Subcommittee may be formed or dissolved at any Advisory committee meeting, as long as the discussion has been placed on the agenda in advance. Once an Ad Hoc Subcommittee has been created, updates are typically given by Members. By consensus of the Advisory committee, a separate Agenda Item is sometimes prepared and presented on a specific Ad Hoc Subcommittee’s topic or event.
