RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council approve the Resolution and authorize the Chief Administrative
Officer to sign all related documents related to the submittal of the Eligibility Renewal
Application for Federal Surplus Property program.
BACKGROUND:
The Federal Surplus Property (FSP) program is a valuable means of obtaining items
for the City’s operations free of charge. The FSP program requires participating
organization’s to renew their eligibility every three years. Currently the City’s
eligibility to participate has expired.
DISCUSSION:
Recreation staff is attempting to obtain free equipment and furniture for the newly
remodeled Teen Center. The FSP program is a potential donor but requires a
current application along with a resolution adopted by the organization’s governing
board. As a result, staff is requesting that the City Council approve the resolution in
order to renew the City’s eligibility for the FSP program.
It is proposed to have representatives from the CAO’s Office, Police, Fire,
Recreation, Public Works and Community Development Departments sign the
application so staff from different departments will be allowed access to view
available FSP surplus property.
