RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council invite the public to comment and provide
input for the City Manager’s Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2014/2015 and
provide direction to staff.
BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION:
The City is committed to being open and transparent in all fiscal matters. In
order to continue this commitment, the public is being provided this additional
opportunity to comment and offer input on the City Manager’s Proposed Budget
for Fiscal Year 2014/2015. The City Council and staff look forward to hearing all
suggestions and comments from the public this evening.
The City Manager’s Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2014/2015 was formally
presented to the City Council during the City Council’s regular meeting on
Monday, May 12, 2014. Prior to this, the City Council reviewed Departmental
Work Programs with each City Department during public meetings held on March
10, 2014, March 18, 2014, March 24, 2014 and March 27, 2014. The City
Council also held a Special Meeting on Monday, May 19, 2014 to review and
discuss requests included in the City Manager’s Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year
2014/2015.
Staff is also requesting the City Council to provide any final direction regarding
the proposed budget before it is brought back for a Public Hearing and adoption
at the next regular meeting on June 23, 2014.
