requested by Vice Chair Sahli-Wells.

SUCCESSOR AGENCY JOINT AGENDA ITEM: Presentation of the City
Manager’s/Executive Director’s Proposed Budget for Fiscal
Year 2013/2014
John Nachbar, Executive Director, introduced the item and
expressed appreciation to staff for being willing to accept
change and work together.
Jeff Muir, Chief Financial Officer, provided a summary
presentation of the budget.
Chair Cooper invited public comment.
There was no response.
Discussion ensued between staff and Board Members regarding
participation of residents; adding a public component to the
process; the process last year; educating the public; Measure
Y; preserving the existing level of service and quality of
life; limited room for major change; information available
online; neighborhood association meetings; the Finance
Advisory Committee; using resources wisely; the level of
public interest; appreciation to the Chief Financial Officer
for his efforts and for the clarity of the presentation; small
attendance at previous efforts at public outreach; May 13, 2013

improvements to the economy; the Executive Summary; the local
economy; development issues; the attractiveness of Culver
City; transportation options; and positive momentum.
MOVED BY VICE CHAIR SAHLI-WELLS, SECONDED BY BOARD MEMBER
WEISSMAN AND UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED, THAT THE HOUSING AUTHORITY
RECEIVE THE PROPOSED BUDGETS AND A PRESENTATION FROM STAFF.
