RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC): (1) receive a report from the 2026 October Community Conversations Ad Subcommittee; (2) if so desired, discuss and consider approval of the report’s recommendations; and (3) determine next steps as deemed necessary.
BACKGROUND
At the July 28, 2026, Regular Meeting, a discussion took place regarding the 2026-2027 Public Events, Projects and Budget Ad Hoc subcommittee report about hosting a community conversation event subsequent to the City of Culver City’s United Against Hate, Emotional Intelligence for the Community, training taking place on October 21, 2026.
EHRAC reached consensus to host a story and small group community conversation/discussion entitled: Oppression, Forgotten Histories, Personal Perspectives, and Healing on October 21, 2026, as a part of United Against Hate Week.
In addition, at the July 28, 2026, Regular Meeting, EHRAC reached consensus to form a 2026 October Community Conversations Ad Hoc Subcommittee, appoint Vice Chair Moammar, Members Bano and Rona thereto, and hear a report from the October Community Conversations Ad Hoc Subcommittee at the September 29, 2026, Special Meeting.
DISCUSSION
Review and discuss the report provided by the 2026 October Community Conversations Ad Hoc Subcommittee (Attachment 1), and determine next steps as deemed appropriate.
