RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC) create an Ad Hoc subcommittee focused on the potential reorganization of the Culver City Cultural Affairs Foundation (CAF) and appoint two members to serve on that subcommittee.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On October 24, 2016, after consideration of CAC and CAF Board recommendations as well as public comment, the City Council formed a subcommittee focused on the potential reorganization of the CAF and assigned Mayor Clarke and Council Member Thomas Small to serve on that subcommittee.  The City Council asked that the CAC also create a subcommittee and assign two Commissioners to that subcommittee.  While the CAC subcommittee is “Ad Hoc” with regard to its limited scope and time-frame, in its work, that subcommittee will be meeting with City Council and CAF Board members focused on the same task (up to seven individuals total) and those meetings will be subject to the Brown Act.

Staff will be coordinating the scheduling of the first meeting of the City Council, CAF Board and CAC subcommittee members.

FISCAL ANALYSIS

Formation of a CAC subcommittee focusing on a revised structure for the CAF will require staff time to schedule and notice meetings, as well as staff the meetings and produce minutes since the intent is that the CAC subcommittee will work with subcommittees of the CAF Board and City Council.
