RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) (1) consider forming a 2028 Summer Olympics Preparation Ad Hoc Subcommittee; and (2) if desired, adopt motions to appoint DAC members to serve on the Newly Formed Ad Hoc Subcommittee.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Joint Special City Council 2028 Summer Olympics Preparation Subcommittee (Joint Subcommittee) is an Ad Hoc Subcommittee formed by the City Council with the aim of discussing Culver City’s engagement in, and preparation for, the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. As a means of garnering feedback and perspective from other advisory bodies around the City, the Joint Subcommittee has invited representatives from other Commissions, Boards, and Committees (CBCs) to attend the meetings. Participating CBCs include the Cultural Affairs Commission; Parks, Recreation, and Community Service Commission; Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee; and Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee. The Joint Subcommittee held its first meeting on May 22; the agenda for the meeting is provided as Attachment 1.
City Council has invited the DAC to take part in the Joint Subcommittee if it so chooses. Because the Joint Subcommittee consists of Olympics preparation ad hoc subcommittees from different CBCs, the DAC would need to form its own 2008 Summer Olympics Preparation Ad Hoc Subcommittee and appoint members to participate in the Joint Subcommittee.
Staff has prepared this report to allow DAC the opportunity to discuss whether they would like to form an ad hoc subcommittee dedicated to the 2028 Summer Olympics preparation, and thus attend future meetings of the Joint Special City Council 2028 Summer Olympics Preparation Subcommittee. Members of the ad hoc subcommittee would be responsible for ensuring two members of the DAC ad hoc subcommittee are able to attend each meeting of the Joint Subcommittee and provide reports to the Committee.
The motion listed below may be repeated as many times as the Committee deems appropriate.
Recommended Motion: That the DAC appoints ________________ and __________________ to service on the newly formed 2028 Summer Olympics Preparation Ad Hoc Subcommittee.

There is no fiscal impact associated with the discussion of this Agenda Item.
