RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) (1) approve the letter from the DAC to the Culver City Rotary Club; and (2) authorize transmittal of the letter to the intended recipient.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
For the past three years, the DAC has selected a member to draft personalized thank you letters to supporters of Disability Awareness Month outside of meeting time. The letters are then agenized by the committee for review and authorization for transmittal to intended recipients at a future DAC meeting. At the August 13, 2025, DAC regular meeting, the committee voted to form the Disability Awareness Month Letter Writing Ad Hoc Subcommittee to allow for collaboration amongst multiple committee members outside meeting time on letters for the 2025 recipients. The drafts were subsequently agendized for review and approval for transmittal at the October 8, 2025, regular meeting.
At the October 8, 2025, regular meeting, the DAC reviewed and approved, as amended, four letters for transmittal to the following individuals and organizations: Culver City Exchange Club; Culver City Neighborhood Girl Scouts; Kelly Conn, Manager of the Culver City Julian Dixon Library; and the Culver City Senior Citizens Association. The committee also voted to agendize the review and authorization for transmittal of a fifth thank you letter for the December 10, 2025, regular meeting. The fifth letter would recognize one additional organization that provided support during Disability Awareness Month: Culver City Rotary Club. The Disability Awareness Month Letter Writing Ad Hoc Subcommittee convened in the time between meetings to compose the letter draft.
Staff have prepared this report to give the committee an opportunity to review the draft letter and make comments and updates, if any. The draft letter is provided with this report as Attachment 1.
