City of Culver City, California
Agenda Item Report
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and
authorize the publication of a notice inviting bids for the Bristol Sewer Pump Station
Site Improvements Project, P-521
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
The Bristol Sewer Pump Station (Bristol Pump Station) is located at 6399 Bristol
Parkway. The Bristol Pumps Station was constructed in 1968 and pumps
approximately 300,000 gallons of sewage a day to the City of Los Angeles’ North
Central Outfall Sewer.
The existing site has deteriorated asphalt paving and chain link fencing and gate.
The chain link fence is original and the asphalt paving appears to be about 20 years
old.
The Bristol Pump Station site is proposed to be improved with new concrete
pavement, a storm drainage system, a seven feet high perimeter block wall, a new
steel sliding gate, a secondary force main, and a new sewer bypass pumping
system. Another capital improvement project will be designed in the future to extend
the secondary force main from a stub out near the pump station to connect to the
City of Los Angeles’ North Central Outfall sewer located approximately 1,100 feet to
the north at the intersection of Bristol Parkway and Green Valley Circle.

approved on-call general civil engineering consulting agreement.
Should the City Council approve the final plans and specifications this evening, the
construction contract award is expected to be presented to the City Council for
consideration in May 2011. Should the City Council award the contract, the
construction of the project is slated to commence in June 2011 and to be completed
by August 2011. Staff may solicit construction inspection services from the City
Council approved list of on-call general civil engineering firms, if the City’s public
works inspector is unavailable due to workload.
The final plans and specifications are available in the City Clerk’s Office for public
inspection
