RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution requesting the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles to render specified services to the City
relating to the conduct of a General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, April
13, 2010.
BACKGROUND:
In accordance with Section 10002 of the Elections Code of the State of California,
the governing body of any city or district, may, by resolution, request the Board of
Supervisors of the county to permit the County Elections Official to render specified
services to the city or district relating to the conduct of an election; e.g. prepare and
furnish a computer record of names and addresses of all eligible registered voters so
labels may be printed onto the sample ballot pamphlets. Subject to approval of the
Board of Supervisors, these services shall be performed by the County Elections
Official and/or the County Elections Department.
To comply with the provisions of Section 10002 of the Elections Code, it is required
that this resolution be approved and adopted.

The estimated cost of the election is included in the City Clerk’s FY 09-10 adopted
budget. The Election budget is $100,000, and is appropriated in account

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES
TO RENDER SPECIFIED SERVICES TO THE CITY OF
CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA, RELATING TO THE
CONDUCT OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD IN THE CITY ON TUESDAY, APRIL 13, 2010.
WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election is to be held in the City of Culver
City, California, on April 13, 2010; and,
WHEREAS, in the course of the conduct of the election, it will be necessary
for the City to request services of the County; and,
WHEREAS, all necessary expense in performing this service shall be paid by
the City of Culver City.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Culver City, California,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, as follows:
1. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 1002 of the Elections Code of
the State of California, this City Council requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Los Angeles to permit the County Election Department to prepare and furnish the following
for use in conducting the election:
(a) The computer record of the names and address of all eligible
registered voters in the City in order that the City's consultant may:
i. Produce labels for vote-by-mail voters;
Produce labels for sample ballot pamphlets;
Print Rosters of Voters and Street Indexes;
(b) Voter signature verification services.
(c)
Election equipment and assistance as needed in accordance

282. The City shall reimburse the County for services performed when the
work is completed and upon presentation to the City of a properly approved invoice.
3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward without delay to the Board
of Supervisors and to the Election Department of the County of Los Angeles, each a
certified copy of this Resolution.
