RECOMMENDATION

 

Staff recommends that the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee discuss the educational component of the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.

 

 

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

 

The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee has requested a discussion as an informational item on the educational components that can be utilize for the 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. 

                     Day of Service Signup:

o                     Participants can register for service activities.

o                     Staff can create certificates, provide educational facts, and purchase buttons.

o                     Target the schools and youth organizations.

o                     Photo Opportunity with participants, committee members, elected officials, and PRCS staff.

                     Interactive Vendor Booths:

o                     Including educational activities and a PRCS interactive booth.

 

                     Education on MLK Jr.

o                     Three- minute video at the beginning/end of the program such as “The Story of Matin Luther King Jr. by Kid President”

                     “I Have a Dream” Wall: Community members can share their dreams and reflections.
