City of Culver City, California City Council Agenda Item Report RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council approve the Revised Classification Specification for Cashier. BACKGROUND: The Personnel Department staff has re-evaluated the requirements of the classification, as the Recreation Division staff of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department had difficultly in filling the current vacancy for Cashier. DISCUSSION: The Personnel Department is proposing that the minimum age requirement be reduced from 18 years of age to 16 years of age. This change aligns the Cashier classification with Recreation Leader I and Recreation Leader II, making a clear line of progression in the part-time Recreation classifications. A change to the minimum age requirement to 16 years of age will increase the number of applicants able to compete for this classification, while maintaining the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In addition, the “Supervision Received and Exercised” section of the classification specification has been updated to reflect the current supervision structure and classification titles. On May 3, 2006, the Civil Service Commission approved the revised classified classification specification for Cashier.
