RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Commission (1) review and comment on version two of the draft correspondence presented by the Child Care Programs Ad Hoc Subcommittee; and, (2) [if desired] finalize the correspondence, and approve its distribution to the City Council.
BACKGROUND
At the June 7, 2016 PRCS Commission meeting, the Commission: (1) received and filed an informational item regarding the Culver City Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Department Day Care, Afterschool, and Camp Programs; (2) discussed the formation of an Ad Hoc Subcommittee related to child care issues; and, (3) formed the Child Care Programs Ad Hoc Subcommittee (CCP-AHS) and appointed Vice Chair Heineman and Commissioner Stuart to the newly-formed Ad Hoc Subcommittee.
Subsequently, the members of the Child Care Programs Ad Hoc Subcommittee drafted correspondence regarding a survey that they would like to conduct, and presented it at the July 5, 2016 PRCS Commission meeting for review and comment. Chair Zeidman suggested some revisions to the first version of the letter, and the Commission directed the CCP-AHS to present the revised draft correspondence (version two) at this evening’s meeting.
DISCUSSION
Version two of the draft correspondence presented by the CCP-AHS is provided as Attachment 1. As a matter of convenience, Attachment 2 illustrates the differences between version one and version two of the letter, as detected by the Microsoft (MS) Word “compare” function. Please note that other changes to the letter may have been made; Attachment 2 only shows those changes from version one to version two that MS compare was able to identify. The CCP-AHS is requesting that the PRCS Commission review, comment on, finalize, and approve the distribution of this correspondence to the City Council.
FISCAL ANALYSIS
There is no fiscal impact associated with the discussion of this Agenda Item.
