RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council (1) accept the work performed by Bobco
Metals, Inc.; (2) authorize the filing of Notice of Completion; and (3) authorize
release of the retention payment in the amount of $6,090 after the expiration of the
thirty-five day lien period for the Skate Park Fence Replacement Project, P-830.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
On April 13, 2009, the City Council awarded a construction contract to Bobco
Metals, Inc. The project consisted of replacing the existing chain link fence with a
rigid wrought iron fence system at the City’s Skate Park.
Bobco Metals, Inc. has successfully completed the work. There is a five year
warranty on the work product for any potential defects.
The construction management and inspection was performed by staff.
FISCAL ANALYSIS:
The approved contract amount and final construction expenditure amount was
$60,910 (no change orders).

Proposition A fund were completely expended and $10,910 of general funds were
utilized for the contract. The remaining general funds remain in the City General
Fund Balance and may be recommended for reallocation to other projects during
the upcoming Fiscal Year 2010/11 budget process.
MOTIONS:
That the City Council:
1) Accept the work performed by the contractor, Bobco Metals, Inc., for the work
performed on the Culver City Skate Park Fence Replacement Project, P-830;
and,
2) Authorize the City Manager to execute the Notice of Completion and submit it to
the Los Angeles County Recorder’s office for recordation; and,
3) Authorize the City Manager to release $6,091 in retention funds to Bobco Metals,
Inc. following the expiration of the thirty-five day lien period.
