Item C-2
Approval of the Certification and Submission of the Section
8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP)
Vice Chair Sahli-Wells congratulated staff for their
receipt of a certificate of excellence as a High
Performer in Section 8 Management programs; she discussed
neighbors who may fear Section 8 housing; and the
importance of the service.
Tevis Barnes, Housing Administrator, reported that very
few certificates are awarded and she introduced Housing
Assistant Theresa Williams who was instrumental in the
process noting that a new project should be online within
the next six months.
MOVED BY BOARD MEMBER WEISSMAN AND SECONDED BY BOARD
MEMBER O’LEARY THAT THE HOUSING AUTHORITY:
1) APPROVE THE CERTIFICATION AND SUBMISSION OF THE
SECTION 8 MANAGEMENT ASSESSMENT PROGRAM (SEMAP) TO THE
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD);
AND,
2) AUTHORIZE THE CHAIR AND THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO
EXECUTE THE SEMAP CERTIFICATION. THE MOTION CARRIED BY
THE FOLLOWING VOTE:
AYES: COOPER, O’LEARY, SAHLI-WELLS, WEISSMAN
NOES: NONE
